( דול) 1) prop. one who pours water over another persons hands (cmp. 2 Kings 3:11) hence (= שַׁמָּש) attendant, waiter, esp. attendant of a dining club, serving at the table and collecting assessments, fees Sabb.148a; B. Kam. 119a אדא ד׳ (Y.Sabb.II, 4d top אדא שמשא) Ada, the waiter.
